Chapter five:
The Boogieman from Jane's Nightmare
Jane was crying and screaming
in the darkness, praying to Samuel for mercy. But Samuel was never a soft man.
He tormented her emotions and made her cry even more. She ran to William,
pleading for his help.
"William, William, please
help me. I know you are friends with him, but I beg of you to help me.
Please."
William looked at her and held
her arm, saying, "Samuel, stop it. Her life is very long now. Please do
not torture her."
Samuel frowned at his words
and then laughed. He came to William's side, held Jane's hand, and kissed it.
"Oh, little girl is scared of me. So nice to see. But okay, I like her
scared, but I will not scare her. I understand, my friend."
William took a deep breath,
smiling. He turned to Jane again and spoke slowly and lovingly, "Dear
beautiful lady, you heard that. This man will not hurt you again."
"But I will die for the
ritual," Jane said.
"Yes, you will die, but
this situation is not important for you."
She smiled and squeezed her
head. "This is not important for me. Do not worry. But you understand,
please. I love being alive, and you said to me, 'You will die, but you do not
know when.'"
"I understand, my dear
lady. Do not worry. I promise you, you will not feel pain during your life's
end. I promise I will be very gentle with you."
Samuel Solisticashire stepped
slowly out of the darkness, holding an old book. He knew it was a ritual book,
his book of shadows. When he stopped opposite Jane, she screamed, "What is
that?"
"This book is my book of
shadows," Samuel replied.
She repeated slowly and with
fear, "Book of shadows?"
William got behind Jane and
spoke. "This is not the right time for him to see your Book of
Shadows." "You don't know anything. Shut up and never say anything
again," Jane replied sharply.
When the sun rose, Samuel
turned to leave his castle and saw Eleanor sleeping in the living room. He
ignored her and went out. When he returned, she woke up and screamed with
happiness. "You came! Come to me!" she exclaimed, hugging him. But
Samuel didn't respond to her hug, and she nearly cried. However, she didn't cry
and moved away from Samuel's side, whispering, "Do you have a mistress?"
Samuel was shocked. He had
promised himself that he would never have a mistress, even though he didn't
love Eleanor. He had grown up with a stepmother after his mother, Cordelia, was
burned at the stake for being a witch. Before she died, Cordelia gave him her Book
of Shadows and said, "Please, my boy, hide it. One day you will use it.
And you must promise me never to have a mistress."
He had made that promise to
his mother, and he believed that if he performed a ritual for Lilith, it would
bring his mother back to him. That's why Samuel Solisticashire was a witch and
the boogeyman in every tribute's nightmare and daydream, except for Jane's. To
Eleanor, Samuel would soon become a monster.
